Approx 1.5 Miles of fishing .
Mainly Chub , Barbel , Dace , Grayling ,
Roach and Pike. Pickhill access southbound A1 - A few miles after Leeming bar
take next left turn to Pickhill. Follow the Pickhill
road through a double bend and eventually houses begin
to appear on both sides as the road narrows
significantly followed by a sharp right hand bend into
the village green area . Immediately after this bend
turn left on to the green and head towards the church
which can be seen up on the hill . At the far side of
the green follow the road round to the left and then
keep straight on this road for approx three quarters of
a mile and
eventually you will pass over a cattle grid. Approx 400
yards further on go through the entrance to Low Swainby
Farm (see bird iron sculptures on entrance).Follow the
road past main farmhouse and go straight on through the
farm yard and then continue down the hill and
through the wooden gates giving access to
the old railway bank .Turn left abd go up Railway
Bank to the bridge over the swale. Park on
the Right Hand side of Railway Bank .Be careful not to
obstruct access through gates over bridge or on to the
flood bank which are both used by the landowner. Ensure
you close any gates which you find closed on your
approach on the road through Swainby farm and drive
carefully and slowly on the narrow roads particularly as
you pass the farms.The
stretch has permanent pegs and is right bank downstream
both above and below the old railway bridge. Top limit
is peg 7 bottom limit is peg 75. Bridge is peg 36. No day tickets. Beware overhead
cable just above Bridge. No access through Maunby
village and down railway bank unless you are
a member of Bradford No1 AA or Middlesborough.
