R Swale Swainby
Approx 1.5 Miles of fishing .
Mainly Chub , Barbel , Dace , Grayling ,
Roach and Pike. Entry directly off A1northbound at Pickhill
or southbound Swainby.
Southbound turn off left to Swainby from A1 (North of
main A61 Ripon
turn off)follow narrow road until it meets the fork by
the stream then turn left over the very small bridge and follow the road through the farm
yard and continue down to the old railway bank. Access
from northbound A1 -(North of main A61 Ripon
turn off) use slip road in central reservation and turn right to Pickhill Village.
Follow the road
into the vilage and after sharp right bend at the green turn left on to the
green and head towards the church. At the far side of
the green turn left again then follow the narrow road
straight on eventually passing over a cattle grid and
then you come to the fork by the stream at Swainby.
Continue straight
on through entrance to Lower Swainby Farm and follow the
road through the farm yard and continue straight on and
down to the old Railway Bank. For both these access methods park
on the Old Railway Bank near the bridge being careful not to obstruct access through
gates over bridge.
Take care to ensure you close any gates closed on your approach on the road through Swainby and
drive carefully and slowly on the narrow roads paticularly as you pass the
farm.
Fishing is Right Bank
Down-stream of railway bridge and upstream on same bank. Pegs
marked 1-75. Match Bookings for other clubs available (see
contacts peg 6). No day tickets. Beware overhead
cable just above Bridge.
Leeds and Liverpool
Canal
1 Mile at Apperley Bridge , Greengates ,Bradford. Fish
above Dobsons lock to the Railway bridge . Below
Dobson Locks to Green Bridge over canal at Calverley
Cutting . Fish towpath side only. Contains Carp ( to
18lb ), Tench , Bream , Roach , Rudd , Pike Perch
and Gudgeon. Day Tickets
