After a very sharp overnight frost some chub responded surprisingly well for the conditions. RSPS angler Jim Taylor won easily with the best weight of the season catching 8 chub for 25lb 4oz on bread from peg 19. Second was John Eyles with 3 chub for 9lb 10oz on caster from peg 73.

The river was approx 1ft above normal level and 32 anglers took part. Chub fed well in all pegs and nearly all anglers caught . Simon Mcardle led the way  with 6 large chub on cheese from peg 31 for 25lb 2oz. Second was J Millican with 5 chub for 16lb 7oz on grub from peg 71.

The river was low and clear and all the fast water areas failed to produce . 23 anglers fished and the match was won by Glen Franklin with 5 chub on lobworm for 14lb 14oz from peg 6. Second was Trevor Mc Ardle with 5 chub for 12lb 15oz on grub from peg 42. Matty Prudhoe took 3rd place with a dace catch of 10lb 15oz on stick float and caster from peg39.

This turned out to be one of the closest matches for places of the season with only 1oz separating 4 of the top 6 anglers. The winner I Prudhoe was however well clear with 4 chub for 12lb 2oz on caster from peg 48. Second was D Walker  with 2 chub for 6lb 4oz on worm  from peg1.

A rising river after cold overnight rain put the fish off  but Alan Walsh caught a single chub on cheese paste and an eel from peg 32 to secure victory with 5lb 0oz. P Gibson was second off peg 9 with a single chub on cheese paste plus a grayling and a few bits for 4lb 5oz.

Overnight frost put the smaller fish off but chub responded well in some areas for the 26 anglers. Junior member Steve Evans took first place with 6 chub on grub for 19lb 6oz from peg 18. A close second with 5 Chub for 18lb from peg 73 was Brian Higgins.

Freak Hurricane conditions hit the river only 20 mins into the match with torrential rain and very high winds which affected  weights as most anglers were unable to fish for an hour and the river quickly became coloured. David  Potter of Anglers World finally got to grips with the chub on lobworm and landed 3 for 9lb 1oz from peg 73. Second with a single barbel for 7lb 13 oz was B Roberts from peg 65.

32 anglers fished what turned out to be the best match weights of the season so far. Brian Higgins led the way with 28lb 14 oz of chub from Peg 45 on wasp grub. Second placed C Jackson almost missed the match when he turned up late but went on to draw in form peg 47 which produced 20lb 1oz of chub on caster. Third placed Mick Welsh included an 8lb Pike with a catch of dace and chublets from peg 39 for 12lb 10oz.

Catches improved with some colour in the river for the 27 anglers. Adrian Evans won with 4 chub on grub for 11lb 2oz from Peg19. Alan Walsh could have won but for losing a good chub right at the end and finished second from peg 65 with a chub and a pike on cheese for 9lb 4oz.

D Graham ( Dunhelm) easily won the first match of the new season from peg 47 below the fast water with  with nine chub on ledgered caster and bread for  19lb 11oz . Cliffe Webb was second off the next peg 48 with one chub and a perch on maggot . The match was a grueller for most of the 26 anglers with only ounces needed for the minor places.

In the very warm conditions the match was a grueller for most but guest Jack Cragg won easily from peg 1 on pole fished red maggot with 14lb 4oz of Tench and Golden Orfe. Second was Callum Evans form peg 5 with 4 orfe and a roach on caster for 5lb 15oz. Third was Charlie Hardaker from peg 9 with 4lb 15oz.

C Lees was second from peg 18 opposite Stylo  with 4lb 8oz of perch on caster . Third was George Colbran  with 3lb 8oz of perch on  caster from peg 21 in the wood.

15 Anglers fished the match on a very windy day. M Harrison won with 3lb 9oz of skimmers roach and perch on squat from peg 2 next to the Apperley Lane swing bridge . Graham Flesher was second from peg 12  with 2lb 15oz of hybrids and perch on squat.  Third was Charlie Hardaker with 2lb 14oz of perch and skimmers on worm and caster from peg 7 opposite the marina.

The opening canal match was fished by 17 anglers. Overnight frost affected weights of silver fish but some of the decent perch responded. Callum Evans caught a chub of approx 2lb on chop worm and added a few roach on caster to win with 3lb 8oz from peg 6. Second was D Stephenson on peg 16 opposite the moorings with 2lb 11oz.

Large fish  showed and 2 single chub over 5lb were caught along with a new match record specimen barbel of  9lb 4oz for second placed Charlie Hardaker from peg 61 on cheese.
